The Cutting Room Floor

Hello, DMEason here and on this entry I am going to talk a little about artwork that didn't quite make the cut. Artwork that I've worked  on or created or was commissioned to work on but, came up short. Maybe the project ended. Maybe it wasn't good enough or exactly what the client wanted. Maybe it is a piece of artwork that I worked on and I changed my mind on the look. Or, just maybe it is something I worked on years ago that has never seen the light of day. This should be fun.

As an artist I feel that my creations as well as my overall artwork are like pieces of me. We put so much thought and time into projects. I take pride in the work that I do because it represents me and my name. But not all works are able to be used. As an artist you have to also have "thick skin". Because not everything is going to be a home run.

With that being said, sometimes it's still hard to see something that you've worked on, just fall by the wayside.

Or to be left on the "Cutting Room floor."

First up is a design I did for a Pro Wrestling Tag Team known as "Generation Me" or "Gen Me". Now, for those of you that know me. I am a huge wrestling fan, so when I had an opportunity to design this I jumped at it. Unfortunately, before they could use my design, they left the company that they was working for and changed there name.

Update, I did contact them and I did work on another design. But, big things are happening for them right now. So, let see if the new designs make an appearance in the future.

Alright, this next piece is a sculpture that I did for a client. We were going to do a special collector line of them. Maybe a series of each one of his characters for special events like conventions or contest. But, things didn't work out the way we both wanted so this is a 1 of 1 design.

This is a design of my version of one of my friends creations. He has a comic book called The Brood (available at www.sinistercomicstudios.com) Anyway, I've always liked this character and I just did a drawing of him and put some color to it. I'm not sure if it will ever make it to any kind of publication so I just thought I would share it here.

Now, I can go on and on, but I won't. But, I will show my first animation that is based on my original character "Man Muth". This is my 2min demo reel that was done way back in 1997! The technology was new, back then. This was cutting edge stuff! Well, that's what I thought back then. So, without further ado. I give you my first animation.....enjoy.

Update, Man Muth is a project that will make it's way back to the fore front. So, be on the look out for what's to come next.

Here are some honorable mentions..
